Everything you’d want in an A-Z mysteries book. Brilliant.

Thank you, Dink Duncan, Josh Pinto, Ruth Rose Hathaway, and Ron Roy, for the childhood memories. These books helped me to become a lifelong reader and lover of mysteries.

Did this as a read-aloud with my 2nd graders. I try to balance my read-alouds between books on their level (hoping that they will enjoy it so much that they looks for other books in the series and get hooked) and books a good ways beyond that since students can comprehend read-alouds above their normal reading level and it gives them a good stretch. This book was the former, though I have to say I really enjoyed it for the quick read that it was. Good quality early-elementary reading.

Ha! Adorable! My 9 year old and I are listening to these as audio books in the car.

We raced right through this story as we ran around doing errands.

My 9 year old paused it non-stop chattering about what she thought would happen next. When a book can inspire so much curiosity and wonder in them, you know it's a good one. We are just loving these mysteries!

Pretty cute. . .but I don't like how the kids run around alone all the time.

Read aloud to Emma and Will. They were so sad to stop halfway through to go to bed, but we finished it quickly the next morning. These are great mysteries for their age, and this one had really nice "feel good" ending. I didn't think it was written quite as well, but I'm sure we'll be reading the next one as soon as it comes in from the library.

I was seeking something easy and nostalgic to read with all the nonsense in the world right now, so why not jump back into some sweet middle grade reads I used to binge as a kid? A to Z Mysteries felt like just the book - it'll be easy, have a nice mystery and remind me of my school years.

I thoroughly loved these books as a kid and I still enjoy them. There are little twists and turns that you don't necessarily expect but are so good. They make you question what's going on the entire time and then give you a very reasonable ending. I really enjoyed The Bald Bandit since there was many ways the story could have gone. It set it up so you could have a good guess about what might happen but not be entirely sure until you got enough information (much like the little detectives we have in the story).

I highly recommend picking this book up if you're looking for a light chapter book for young readers. It's fun! It also has some pictures if you pick up the right edition!

Four out of five stars.

My six-year-old daughter says:
It wasn't as interesting but it was good.

My four-year-old son says:
They found a bandit and they dressed up for Halloween. One was a mummy, Dink is a vampire. I don't know why he's a vampire for Halloween. I think he likes vampires; I think his favorite creature is bats.

Mom says:
The kids are trying to help track down a suspect in a robbery. Kind of drives me crazy that the adults just let these grade schoolers help in high-risk investigations, but if they didn't we wouldn't have a series :)
