Yes, I'm bingeing these! So far, I think book two is my favorite, but I enjoyed the minor twist at the end of this one. Still a lovely series.

Audiobook narrator Patrick Tull gets 4.5 stars.

A very lengthy setup for a pretty easy mystery in this one, and so there's a lot of padding and fluffery about Cadfael's pre-monastic life. For all tham the setting is still rich in detail and well-described, and as usual there's a ot of attentjon to historical accuracy. And the interesting fact that 'monk's hood' the flower is also known as 'wolfbane'. So now I know what to get next time I'm at the nursery.

Monk's Hood has always ranked among my favourite Cadfael stories, and unlike some of the other novels, I found I actually liked it as much as the TV adaptation (which did not change too much). Plus, the audiobook narrator does an excellent Welsh accent.

Well worth a read. I just wish Head of Zeus would put more of the Kindle editions on sale.
