Glad it's over, got really bored, hope the others on the Man Booker longlist are better. Felt like a few loose ends didn't get tied up and I kinda don't care because I'm glad it ended but it did feel a bit like 'well what was the point of that then'. Can't say I'd particularly recommend this one. There are good bits, and it's generally quite a sweet book (maybe that's one reason I didn't like it), but if you're interested in this subject and this storyline, I'd recommend reading Ian McEwan's Machines Like Me instead. It does sort of the same thing but with adults and it does it rather better I think. 2 stars for this one anyhow.

El punto de inflexión -la hipótesis que mueve a reflexión- de esta novela llega demasiado tarde y se desvanece sin grandes consecuencias. En otros títulos he disfrutado el paso demorado de la narrativa del autor. No esta vez.

Klara is an AF (Artificial Friend), every day Manager decides where in the shop Klara will stand and every day from whichever position she is in, Klara learns more from what she can see beyond the window and the importance of the Sun's nourishment.
When Klara meets Josie, she knows that this is her person and Klara will soon be experiencing more of the World than that small shop that is all that she has ever known.

This is the second book I've read by this author (the first being Never Let Me Go which is absolutely phenomenal btw) and yet again another mundane yet beautifully written story which keeps me engaged and leaves me thinking about it's subtle messages in the days since I have finished it.

Again, not a plot heavy novel but one where we see the World through the eyes of Klara who unemotionally and naively explains and assesses everything she sees, mostly the relationships between people.

Klara and the Sun also brings up questions about ethics and how love can lead to questionable choices.

I cannot wait to read more from this author, I love the messages within his work.

Read this if you like:
- Character driven novels
- morality around AI/robots
-Slow plot lines and descriptions on mundane daily life
- Difficult questions about morality
-Ambiguous endings
