A fun sexy novella,

Characters:
Leah, goes from our time to Medieval times, and becomes half mermaid thanks to a spell. Poor girl can't speak either when out of water. So that causes some issues.

Royce, honestly creepy at times, sure he is always nice, but the things he says. But then times, the situation, I got it. But...ok anyway I got over it and wanted them together.

A fast romance as if she does not get him to love her she dies. Throw in a an evil lord who wants the castle, the spell that makes her crave the water and some sexy times and this is what you get.

FuN!

I probably shouldn't have picked this up- the little mermaid has never been one of my favourite fairy tales and I'm not a fan of the falling in love with your captor thing.

I found it frustrating how powerless Leah was in this- I did like how she managed to retain her personality despite her lack of voice but it still felt like she was being bounced about by other people's actions without any real control over what was going on.

Royce is her captor- and threatens to let his men have their way with her multiple times- he just wasn't someone I could fall in love with.

The ending was sweet but I didn't really like the rest of the book.

2.5 stars.

An enjoyable read, because it was quick and somewhat fun but not really anything more than that. I wanted more from the little mermaid story than her just having a tail and not being able to talk lol I mean there was an evil other woman but not really.

Leah is a pretty likable heroine.
But with a b*tch of fairy godmother and a jerk of prince (or baron) charming...it's miracle I'd throw even one star, not to mention two.

I give this a solid 4.5 stars. I this is the third book that I've read by Jill Myles and I'm finding that I really love how she writes her romances. There's the attraction, the lust and through all of that, the struggle which adds so much tension. It really pulls you in and hooks you, making you feel more connected to the characters.

As to The Mermaids Knight, I loved the re-telling of The Little Mermaid. It's actually the first retelling of the classic that I've ever read, but I thought that it was well done and unique. My only complaints are that I didn't like the fairy godmother, nor did I feel connected to her as a character. I would have liked to maybe of seen her less goofy and maybe more caring or strict? I dunno, just something less goofy. I also would have liked to of felt more connected to the beginning before Leah is thrown back in time, when she's just a ghost. I scarcely ever have a problem with a beginning of a book, but for some reason, it bugged me when reading it and I think it's because I didn't feel connected... like it didn't seem real or believable or something. Other than those two factors, I loved the book and would definitely recommend it. I'm very glad with how it ended! =)

This is a great example of great concept, but terrible execution.

a palate cleanser that is very cheesy and edited poorly but still enjoyable and quick.
