That it’s more engaging than Fear Itself - er - itself says less about this book, which feels totally inexplicable if you don’t know what’s gone before (like I don’t!) and more about how sluggish the event actually was. It’s... fine

Writer Jeff Parker's third volume of Red Hulk stories ties the antihero in with the major Marvel event "Fear Itself" and sees Red Hulk beset on all sides with multiple opponents.

Red Hulk is hunted by the scientist-turned-technological-omniscience Zero/One, the Thing (powered by a sinister hammer of Asgard), former fellow officer Reggie Fortean, Black Fog, Omegex, and M.O.D.O.K. He's got his plate full as he struggles not to be killed by one of these maniacs.

But this isn't just your usual smash-up book, as is sometimes seen with Hulk-related titles. The volume examines General Ross's past and does so with a smart, sci-fi spin as we hurtle through significant moments of Ross/Red Hulk's past.

Not the greatest thing I've read, even when it comes to Red Hulk stuff, but entertaining, still.

Recommended for Hulk fans, sci-fi nuts, and fans of the creators involved.
