It's a very hard book at times to get through but it also speaks to feelings that I as a queer person have felt.

Complicated, problematic revolutionary, contemplative. Before white folks had language for so many queer experiences. Huge influence on contemporary lgbtqia2s+ literature, I kept finding easter eggs others have referenced.

Another long awaited read that I loved. It's so wonderful to be able to read books with so much love and heart. So many bits of this book made me stop and smile, even if those smiles were sometimes full of sorrow.

I was surprised how good this was. It read pretty easily and (besides the casual racism that is unfortunately reminiscent of the time) has some remarkably progressive views on sexuality.

Read for Queer Writing.
