I loved this book so much. Until the end. The end had me going "WTF!!" in a bad way. Very unsatisfying.

A slooooow book, flat characters, boring conversations and a finale that makes no sense.

I really enjoyed this book as it kept my attention throughout. I read a lot of mysteries/thrillers so sometimes I do find them predictable, but this one did actually surprise me. Also, if you're a true crime fan I feel like you'd enjoy this one due to the general premise and the fictional cases mentioned in the boom.

Addiction is a bitch, may it be xanex, wine or a young pretty girl, that shit will always catch up to you.
Nice twist, very well written.

Man, I wanted to like this book so much. But ugh, is it bad.

"Riley Sager" is a pen name for an author who's published books under a different name, and that name, his real name, is Todd Ritter. I wouldn't have guessed this; I was 99% sure that this book had been written by Rainbow Rowell. The style of Final Girls is everything Fangirl was, amped up and out of control. And I hated -- hated -- the style Rowell used in Fangirl.

But apparently this doofus Ritter decided to publish his book under a pen name and I was dumb enough to waste my time on yet another white man's telling of a woman's story. Shame on me.

What did I dislike about this book? Everything. Every. Thing. Every goddamed sentence is overwrought and overwritten. There's a metaphor in every breath, and Sager weighs down every scene with absolutely unnecessary details. Why do I know the name of a woman who shows up in a single scene and has zero impact on or relevance to the story? Because Sager tells us EVERYTHING AND SO MUCH OF IT IS MEANINGLESS AND IT'S SO ANNOYING. Her name is "Emily," by the way.

I finished this because I wanted to see who the killer was. It was intriguing enough to keep me on the hook, and the payoff was okay. It wasn't worth the hours wasted reading this, but it was okay.
