Still love this book series. This book broke my heart a little. I know it is going along with the actual novel but even then it hurts my heart.

'Anne's Kindred Spirits: Inspired by Anne of Green Gables' by Kallie George with illustrations by Abigail Halpin is the second chapter book in a series adapting Anne of Green Gables.

This time around, Anne learns that she is going to meet her neighbor Diana. She is convinced they will be best of friends. She is even more excited when she learns that she and her new friend can go to a picnic. Things take a bad turn when Marilla accuses Anne of taking a favorite piece of jewelry. Anne says she is innocent, but her punishment may make her miss the picnic.

The classic book these books are based on works really well as a series of chapter books. The illustrations by Abigail Halpin just enhance the story really well.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Tundra Books, Penguin Random House Canada, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Another great entry in this series, that captures Anne's spirit and her story in short, easy to read chapters with lovely illustrations.

Anne's Kindred Spirits is the second Anne Chapter book and it's just as lovely as the first. The way Anne's mind works should delight young children while the art works its magic on all ages. If, like me, you're an adult who somehow missed out on Anne's adventures as a kid, these books are still enchanting and should entice anyone to seek out the originals while holding fast to these beautiful adaptations

Another cute way to get younger generations into Anne of Green Gables. The pictures are stunning, although I don't think they do Marilla justice

Anne of Green Gables is a classic book, well loved. And while I usually prefer to read the original, I must say these snipping up of the story into bitesized stories for younger readers is just fine as well. This manages to give a taste of the missing broach story as well of the story of how she met her bosom friend.

The illustrations are delightful. And the endpapers are done in old fashioned wall paper.

So if the series continues like this, a young reader could get the whole story in a series of books.

And I think this was a good idea to adopt this story, because it shows how misunderstandings happen. How Marilla wanted Anne to confess to something she didn't do, but the only way out was to confess to something that she didn't do.

I'm hoping that readers will read the original when they grow older, too.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

I hope there is one of these for each of the big stories in Anne of Green Gables. Beautifully illustrated, and eloquently summed up, this is still proving to be my favorite way to introduce Anne, and now Diana, to young readers.
