I liked the concept of this more than the execution. The idea of history changing so that the Civil War goes on for 150 years is kind of nifty. But that happening because Abraham Lincoln followed the team back through a time portal to 2001? Wonktastic. The basic gist of it seems to be that Lincoln was kind of an asshat until he came to the future and learnt about the PEOPLE part of people of colour. But it still seems that it was more the fact that he saw the world that an ongoing war had created that changed his mind more than seeing certain characters in the story as people rather than slaves. And sure, Lincoln was no saint. But it's still kind of weird to imply that he only became who he did because of time travel...

Other than that, this was fine. Nothing spectacular. More of the same formulaic something-changes-in-history-the-team-fucks-it-up-and-then-has-to-try-and-fix-it stuff as the previous books. I'm still enjoying the series, but I probably shouldn't be reading them this close together because you basically just change the historic setting then rinse and repeat.

3.5 stars.

A wonderful and terrifying misadventure is caused when Abraham Lincoln is killed 30 years before becoming President of the US. The results an eternal war, where the American Civil War is still being fought.

While the middle of the book was a bit of a drag in some places, it was an enjoyable read. I particularly enjoyed Devereau and Wainwright. They were great characters and their relationship as friends on opposite sides was quite fascinating.

Also, I felt Sal finally had time to show her character development when she joins Liam, Bob and Abraham rather than staying with Maddy at the field office. With Becks joining Maddy this time, I think everyone in the book got a fair chance of development.

Dobré to bolo. Len by s mi páčilo, keby bolo tajomstvo okolo Spoločnosti trochu viac zakomponované do deju a nie len spomenuté na konci. Postavy sú na tom oveľa lepšie, ako v prvom diely, odhaľujú sa nám postupne ich povahy a osudy. Bob a Becky sú perfektní

Even though this has to be my least favourite book in the series, I find I cannot rate it any less than 5 star. I enjoyed it much more re-reading it.

In this novel we see how one man's influence can affect the world in such a huge way that the world is practically in ruins without him. That one man being president Lincoln.

So many things that I loved in this novel. I love that all the timeriders are in the same time. For once the girls are put in danger. I love the detail it went into describing alternate new york and I was surprised to find that I actually cared about what happened to the new characters introduced in this story.

I felt like it got a bit bogged down in the politics at certain points but not enough to put me off.

I am re-reading all the TR series again, as at some point I hope Mr Scarrow will follow through on his statement for a timeriders 10!
