I absolutely LOVED this!! Such a great story about a mermaid who is brilliant at making friends and determined to be friends with the new shark in town. Absolutely adorable and I loved the illustrations!!

The writing still feels kind of awkward, but it’s better than the first one, and the illustrations are still gorgeous. I liked how Oona explored her creative STEM side in this and how it made the point about accepting people (or, in this case, sharks) as they are instead of trying to change them.

This book worked AMAZINGLY in storytime. Yes, it's longish. BUT, I found using voice inflections, asking for help telling the story when there were nearly wordless pages.....the kiddos LOVED it. Believe it or not, kiddos ages 2-5 get being sensitive to noise. We talked about quiet activities to do with friends. We sang our goodbye song quietly. And it was just perfect

I love Oona! And I enjoyed the message of this book. But it didn't live up to the first, in my opinion.
