The mysterious Night Wing Dragons! At last we get to see what they've been up to. Starflight may be the best model for kids to look at. There is some darkness to this story, but I feel it's still fairly appropriate for grade school children.

weakest book so far. i liked Starflight better when he wasn't a main character; he was dragged into events and barely did anything of importance on his own! there were dreams, a flashback... it felt like the author wasn't very sure what to do with such a character. there was so much potential for a strong character arc but what happened was so gentle and underwhelming. he did the so little to showcase his growth and drive the plot forward. for the entirety of the book, Starflight was thinking about Sunny, wishing someone would save him or following Fatespeaker around... shortly put — Starflight is a weak protagonist.
I dislike the romance that is cooking, really, really dislike it. why must everyone fall in love? every single dragonet gets a crush in their book and i think it's unnecessary.
Fatespeaker and Sunny being pretty much the same character was so weird too, especially at the end when he couldn't even tell which one of the two was next to him. Speaking of, why would you make the main character blind at the last chapter?!?! I've noticed that besides the character whose perspective we're reading, we don't see much of the others. this means we will not see starflight's struggles and him overcoming them. it felt lazy and cheap to shock the reader with this and then most likely not exploring it.
what i did like was the concept that the great nightwings live in a stinky island and are carrion-eaters.
lastly, i didn't like the writing very much, it was so simple at times. also whenever there's drama, it always happens at the end of the chapter and there was repetition of some words n phrases like "as", "on one talon/but on the other". i do get annoyed by patterns once i notice them though so perhaps that's not as bad, can't tell. i also pretty much binged both books so i mightve gotten a bit too much of this author's writing. lastly, hated the "he or she" and "brothers and sisters". it is not at all hard to say "they" and "siblings" instead. it makes the sentences heavy. it is a nice touch that the generic pronoun is she though, considering they live in a matriarchal society. but if she is the generic pronoun why even say "he or she" when you can just say "she"???
