KIsscut is the 2nd book in the Grant County series, which I just started. The first book really made me question if this series was going to be for me and if I wasn't better off sticking with Will Trent's adventures after all. But the second book proved otherwise. This is where the nice consistency and complexity finally did come through. It's not hard to follow at all, but when you let the story sink in afterwards you suddenly realize how amazingly KS was able to go from something very simplistic to a whole spider web phenomenon in 400+ pages! What I also thought what was nicely put together were the references to the first book and the characters' developments that you can follow closely. Normally in the Will Trent series you could always read a book as a stand alone, even if it was sometimes guessing about the background for each main character. But with this series it is definitely recommended to read them in the right order! That way you really experience emotion throughout the characters and really feel what progress they are making in their lives besides their jobs. Come to think of it, that's also a really big factor why I love reading her books: following the same characters and finding the nice balance between horror, romance and tender emotions.
I sincerely enjoyed it & it was really booming! Karin, you'll see me again ASAP!
