A perfect hypothetical world where a female is raised in a jail with 39 other women, and knows nothing about culture, society, traditions, men, etc. All the other women remember their pasts but don't remember how they ended up in an enclosed underground jail.

The story is told through the youngest of the group, starting at 15. We view the group's experiences through her eyes in world perfectly tailored to her, a blank slate.

This book caught my attention because it's made like an unfinished puzzle where you have to think about the ethical dilemmas occurring, not the plot itself.
