I was honestly so surprised by this better version of Sliding Doors.
Yes it is heavy on the suicide thoughts - but it's integral to the story and the evolution of Nora's character.
I loved that her "purgatory" was a library - mine would be too. But with my yia yia as my guide.
This was well paced and I loved reading about all of her possible lives.
But of course she can't stay in one, because when you are just dropped straight into an well-lived life with ZERO memories of that life all you can be is an interloping improv. For her to really stay in that life she would have had to be given that Nora's memories straight out the gate.
And I realised that as soon as she saw Ash in that first alternative world that she would want to go back to her root life and ask him out.
Also, literally calling people who jump from alternative reality to alternate reality "Sliders" - like bro there was literally a tv show called sliders where ppl jump to parallel universe's and experience their alternative lives, he couldn't have thought of a different world>
But even with all that said I had a brilliant time and enjoyed the ride. It was a staisfactory ending too. And very motivating and isnpiring in regards to how I live my own life - the choices I make and don't make and the potential I use.

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is another chance at life with a thousands to millions of opportunities.
If you had the chance to change your life, would you take it? Especially after seeing so many different realities that you can live, and taste? I don’t know if I could do it, especially if my life before compared to the lives that come after me, were so much better than mine. I think there is a danger in knowing what you could have been, if you made a different choice down the line. The author balances a lot of scientific concepts, but he doesn’t make a bore out of it. This book was a whirlwind of different choices, and of different lives. It really made me think of my own life, and how I should change my own life decisions to live a better one.
My criticism to this book is that when I first read this novel I wasn’t in a great place mentally, and I wish someone would have warned me at how the main character took their life so easily. Though the concept of this book was brilliant, and I could find the allure in the concept. It scared me at how easy it was. It made my own life feel worthless and it made me consider it as well if it really was that easy for this character. It took me a long time to get that idea out of my head. So therefore, I wish anyone who isn’t in a good place right now, don’t read this book. Read the book when you feel better.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to see a new life.
