While I did like this book, it wasn’t spectacular or anything. The characters weren’t well developed, and it took me half the book to actually remember who any of the characters were (“Wait who’s Celia? …that’s the main character? Whose perspective we’ve been in for 100 pages? Oh”). The plot felt rushed, the world wasn’t explained properly for how complex the world building was, and the major event/plot twist near the end was lackluster for how emotional it should’ve been. However, the idea itself was really creative, and I loved it. And even if most of the characters were iffy, some were really good—like the Plague Doctor. Or maybe I’m just a simp. For how poorly executed it was, it still kept me hooked on the interesting concept. The thing I loved most was how much character it had—while I couldn’t for the life of me remember the main character's name, she at the very least had a very interesting narrative style.
