So I really wanted to like this book,  because the author comes highly recommended, but I just really disliked the characters from the start. And it made me not want to continue. They just seemed to be a bit one dimensional and stereotypical. And in addition to all this, the set up of the spooky aspect was not interesting enough to hook me in.

Meh, it was alright. I liked the twists but the ending was just a little unrealistic. Every character is insufferable, I wish we got more Spooky Island before the twist, and most of all the daughter’s name being Lark really irked me for some reason.

This was pretty good but it was more of a slow going mystery book than a true horror story. The bloodbath scene was good but otherwise it was so slow and they gave us barely any developments in the mystery until the climax. It wasn’t horrible, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to a friend.
