A book about a garbage truck? What could be more fun for little boys? Everyone loves this one about a stinky garbage truck and all of the yucky trash he likes to "eat". We watch him get loaded up, then learn how the parts inside the truck compact all of the trash. The highlight is an alphabetical list of refuse that includes items like "Puppy Poop" and "Ugly Underwear" - good for giggles.

8/10 Kids find it hilarious. Learning about garbage trucks and the essential role they play in society. Paperback version is very large and difficult to have a hold of so reading it "teacher style" was not successful.

More realism than I require.

This book is awesome! When I was a kid this was one of my favorite books to check out from my school's library. I was fascinated with garbage and what happens to it. This book is so colorful and I can still remember the pictures.

All about trash collection and the garbage truck. At one point, the trash the truck collects is listed ABC-style. Not my cup of tea, but great for little fans of watching for the garbage truck on trash day.

McMullan provides children with information about an anthropomorphic garbage truck as it collects the trash each morning. It features a variety of onomatopoeia and specific vocabulary words related to garbage trucks. The book's specific vocabulary and text heavy pages could be over the head of very young children. Children with a specific interest in trucks may enjoy the information. The book would encourage print motivation for children with an interest in trucks.
