The first book? I couldn't get enough of. This one? It was a cringy boring fest. Everything that worked in the first one was nowhere to be found here and surprise surprise, it was worse. I was skimming through chapters, literally nothing was happening and finally when things started to pick up again it was towards the end and the ending was really drawn out to multiple chapters unnecessarily! And don't even get me started on how EVERY character was beyond annoying and unrecognizable. Just wrap it all up nicely end the series as a duology and have people remembering it as the best series ever. Now it will be remembered as the worst filler book in what should have been a duology but became trilogy because of the hype.

This was just stuff happening all the time meanwhile nothing significant or of importance really occurred. And on top of everything else I was just SO BORED! Reid was so insufferable through out the whole book, a hypocrite that I could have excused in the first book because he’s still unlearning (or should have been) but he just didn’t ? The whole of the second book he became more whiny and annoying and I was just so sick of it. So disappointing because I loved the first book so much, the only thing that kept me some what intrigued was Lou and what she was battening internally. Honestly though, she deserves better than Reid.

All of the side characters felt incredibly empty and underwhelming; the whole scene where Reid had to play hide and seek with the wolves was boring, cringe, and a waist of my time.
I wish I could have cared about Ansel, but there just wasn’t anything that had made me attached to him. And unfortunate for me I’m going to read the last book bc I made the mistake of wasting my money.

The majority of this book felt like a pissing contest between characters. The miscommunication trope is my least favourite.
The last few chapters were redeeming, but it felt like too little too late

I loved this one and was absolutely hooked in from the get go. The characters and their story have embedded themselves into my heart and soul, I was with them through every moment in that book and that ending😫. The writing is so good, that before you know it, you're halfway through the book and then at the end. I fell in love with the characters even more than before and watching all the anguish that they were going through, was destroying me. Highly recommend picking this series up if you haven't already.

wowee. that was such a cliffhanger. i NEED more ! so honestly really enjoyed this book, the characters have such a special place in my heart. really enjoyed seeing more of the magic & the kind of bargains you have to make to use it. at first it was a wee bit slow, but once meeting deveraux i would say that it quickened a little. loved all the grey morality in this book, was definitely very interesting. the ending ... i need gods & monsters now.
