A strong sequel but it didn't engage me as much as the first one.
I love the inclusion of the wolfs and the blood witches (a topic I thought was not as explored in the first book as I would have liked) and Deveraux's group. But nevertheless I thought it was a little slower and didn't flow as good as the first one.
I'm also not a big fan of the constant quarrel between Reid and Lou about secrets and magic and 'darkness'. I understand their differences, but surely there has to be something else to argue about.
Nevertheless a good book

A bit slower than the first in the series, it felt more like set up for the finale than its own story. That ENDING though, so good

This book wasn’t bad per se, but it put me in a slump. The beginning was slow, the conflicts between characters unoriginal, and the climax didn’t really feel engaging? Lou felt like a whole different person than she was in book one. She just wasn’t as lovable? I understand that was part of the plot, but I just wasn’t loving it. Reid didn’t really get much development until roughly 300 pages in. It wasn’t all bad, the story was exciting here and there, but it definitely left me questioning whether the next book is worth buying.
