This book was a long and hard read for me. I love the characters and the plot, but when it came to the over description of fishing, I got lost. It just wasn’t my cup of tea

Honestly don't know why I kept reading this book. Heavy on details about the fishing industry--the author obviously wants us to know he has first-hand experience in this area--but very light on characterization or plot. The central character is completely unbelievable. A woman's sexual assault is turned into a random plot point, but never treated with the seriousness it deserves. I kept hoping it would improve. Sadly, it didn't.

I really enjoyed this novel. The characters felt real and the story engaging. I know he's not a big part but I adored Keta. I have high hopes for this one!

As a fan of Alaska reality television shows (especially The Deadliest Catch) I was eager to read this advanced reader's copy from Netgalley about a woman who comes to Alaska to escape her tormented old life and find herself. A cousin sets her up with a job at fish processor but she has to scramble to eke out accommodations. As expected, Alaska life is rugged and harsh and filled with a cast of eccentrics. This is a terrific book about a young woman's personal journey in search of self acceptance.

One young woman's fight to reclaim her self in the "wilds" of Alaska. Well written, easy to read; completely believable characters. LOVED this book!
