I was slightly annoyed by this book at the beginning, however the middle and end redeemed it.

This took me a bit to get into but once it sucked me in, it held tight. The plot is original and there were twists that I just didn't anticipate. Glad I read this, holy cliff hanger - very much looking forward to #2.

No need for me to recap the story, so right on into the mixed--but ultimately positive--review.

The first chapter is awesome, fast-paced, and primal. Love it! a large portion of the book contains stilted dialogue, too rapid mood shifts, and plot holes such as time, place, and character physical positions; small but splinters-under-your-fingernails kind of bothersome. I would recommend another author edit pass of the book, or a stronger editor.

The author catches onto some really great lines throughout the book, making it difficult to just put aside because of the wording. And, yes, the climactic battle of the book is definitely worth sticking to it. This does NOT have a sappy Hollywood ending, thank the book gods.

And the cover is phenomenal, even without considering that the book is self-published. Knowing that there are two more books after this, and hoping that the author has taken to heart the sincere comments about how readers thought the book needed to change, I definitely look forward to reading them.

I have been reading this book for a while but keep picking up other more interesting books and then coming back to it. It is very wordy and takes more than 1/4 of the book to get anywhere. I really enjoy nature and the woods, but I got sick of it after reading this one. The main protagonist, Grace, is not likable and got on my nerves. I only kept reading to see how the mystery would unfold, because I love a good mystery. I skimmed my way through. Not recommended.

I might not have picked up this book if I hadn't met the author online since it's not my usual genre/setting. It's intense, high-action, and gripping. I gasped aloud a time or two. I can't say anything about the end because this is a no-spoiler review, but let's just say this book had my emotions All Over The Place and definitely made me want to read the next.

I admit that I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into when I started reading what had been dubbed a “wilderness novel.” However, a few pages in I understood what that meant. The woods and land that Grace explores is a big part of this novel, almost becoming a character of its own. All of the sounds, textures and creatures of the woods come alive on the page and I could almost imagine myself there. Grace knows how to survive in these woods and I was very impressed by her knowledge of tracking, fishing, hiking and other survival skills.

A fast paced thriller, Untraceable grabbed me from the get go. Grace’s investigation had unexpected twists and turns and kept me guessing. Grace is a pretty kick-ass heroine. I admire her determination in finding out what happened to her father. She’s smart and capable and reminded me a bit of Nancy Drew, if Nancy could scale a steep rock face, ride a motorcycle, face down grown wild bears, and actually made out with Ned Nickerson. Though mature beyond her years, there were times when Grace made very rash and/or just plain dumb decisions. I am not sure if we’re supposed to chalk this up to her young age or what, but I wanted to reach into the book and shake some sense into her a couple of times.

But now, we get to the ending of the book. The end of this book just killed me. I think I stared at my Kindle for a moment going, “Noooooo.” I’m not going to give it away but there’s one part about the ending that just didn’t mesh with what I, personally, wanted to happen. Part of me likes the fact that Johannes didn’t do
what was expected but the other part of me is very frustrated. This is just my opinion though and I am interested to hear what others think of the ending.

Untraceable is an exciting new YA suspense thriller that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. With a great story, well developed characters, a love triangle, and an action packed mystery, it has something for everyone. I can’t wait to see what the sequel, Unstoppable, brings.

*I received this book free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review. This, in no way, affected my opinion or review of this book.

Really really good book after a very long time! I received this book by the author from netgalley .
My sincere apologies for not reading this a little early but now that I have I have a lot of good things to tell about this.
This is the story of Grace Wells who is on a hunt to find more about her missing father in the forest nearby to her house. Her father Joe Wells has been missing for nearly three months and the town cop as well as other people who can help Grace have already come to the conclusion that her father died due to drowning even when they were unable to find the body. Nothing would hurt more than her own mother giving up on her father. As Grace stubbornly decides find clue to her father's disappearance, she finds new allies, new enemies and very dangerous secrets. But the time ticks off for her father as well as so many wild bears as allies and friends turn enemies and murderers! Will Grace find her father? how will she deal with the new mysteries that she uncovers? and how many times should she suffer betrayal?

This is such a good book because it has absolutely everything one can hope for.
Starting off with-
1.A Strong female character
2.A very unhelpful situation, placing our protagonist to fend for her own
3.Protect wildlife theme! lot of bears die in this story so have a strong heart
4.fantastic twists and turns
5.Writing style is so appealing and easy to read. It makes one love the characters.
6. A really unexpected end which is a no-softening-any-blows-to-guts baffling!
7. Finally the survival skills in each chapter!
Also the dry humor, the romance, the character depth is well brought out that there is no way one can put this book down. It's a gripping story indeed.

Ouch, slow start! I found the beginning quite boring, but fortunately the story started speeding up half way through the book or so. Decent read in the end, but I really hope that Johannes speeds up a little in the sequel.

I received a free copy of Untraceable by S.R. Johannes from the publisher in return for an honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

This book was so refreshing! It's not my normal read of fantasy or paranormal. It's a great mix of mystery, deception, and romance. There were a few things in the book that bothered me and seemed a little far fetched, but overall I enjoyed the book.

Grace was funny, strong-willed, and just a little spit fire. Multiple times while reading the book, she would do or say something and I would think, "Go Grace!" You felt everything that Grace felt. Her frustrations, her heartache, her annoyance, her despair, her lust, and so much more. She is sixteen in the book, and it does show while reading the book. But she's a sixteen year old who just lost her dad. Who wouldn't act the way she does?!

Wyn was always happy. People in town all liked Wyn. And Wyn is incredible loyal to Grace. And I liked him for the most part.

Mo is a little different. He was always there for Grace in his own way, but I wanted just a bit more out of Mo. He did have an unwavering affection for Grace but I just felt like his character should've been more throughout the book.

There were twists in the book, some I saw coming but many I did not. I liked the book, but the ending?! I LOVED it! I admit that I thought the book was just a standalone until the ending of the book. Now I'm excited to read the sequel and get more of the story that I thought was done.
