I didn’t love all of the stories, but Doerr’s imagery and the themes of connection to nature kept me going. The last story was especially wonderful.

Intensely personal and spanning a wide range of times, themes, genres, and continents. The human experience is a vast and horrible and loving thing and Doerr's style when laying down these people's lives is unparalleled. He makes you fall in love with life.

Series of short stories that are supposed to have various life lessons and themes. These were not overtly noticeable to me.

Each of these stories is a deep, rich world. Wonderful.

This was a mixed bag - I liked some stories and wasn't enthralled by the others. Several stories featured strong, yet trapped/lost women, which was interesting. My favorite story was Mkondo.
