Wow- did I hate this book. The writing is all over the place- and is precocious fit the sake if being precocious. In an attempt to be cite and quirky Md innovative- the author sacrificed all story and characterization
I read this because it was on done "best of list ". I simply didn't get it. Worst book I've read on years
Don't read this.

A strange little book. I could appreciate the author's skill but I can't help but wionder what on earth it was all about.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. On the one hand, I did enjoy it, and it's got memorable characters and some interesting ideas. But on the other hand I don't feel like there was very much point to it. I'm really not sure.

It took a long time to read this for no particularly good reason, but it seems like a gentle description of dementia in different forms and different types. Lovely writing.

strange. all of the elderly that check into a particular hospital rapidly exhibit dementia. but that storyline is only very loosely pursued as a way to discuss the various characters affected and therefore feels almost unnecessary. a day in the life of a senior residential facility could have easily provided a less confusing backdrop.

I was confused for most of the book. The parts that weren't confusing seemed entirely irrelevant. My biggest problem with this book was it didn't know if it had a plot or not. It would have been a much better book if Segal had decided on this. It has the start of a plot, but she doesn't resolve it. It has the start of a character arc novel, but she doesn't resolve that either. It goes on about a bunch of different characters, then stops.
And apparently it was supposed to be humorous.
