Cute book to read. I read it back when I was in elementary school then again over the summer my sixth grade year. Cute book.

I liked, but didn't love, this book, although I can see why many of my students did love it. It's a sweet story. I had issues with the luck thing - it just seemed like an easy way out of very real problems. Still, Heidi's search for identity is handled with love and respect, and I did like that a lot.

This book was intense for me as an adult and it's rated for teen middle school. I was impressed. Loved it.

Excellent story! Heidi is such a great character who has an interesting point of view and a strong spirit. Her life has been filled with interesting situations, but she doesn't think of herself as special since she doesn't know any differently. Her voice is a pleasure to hear and her story is bursting with love and hope and adventure. A wonderful book!

Type of read: Commuter (listened to and from work)

What made me pick it up: So B. It showed up as a recommended read in my library list.

Overall rating: So B. It is charmingly tragic yet uplifting. Told from the perspective of young Heidi, the book takes you on a journey for answers. You can feel the yearning for her to better understand who she is and where she comes from. I enjoyed this book a great deal and would recommend it to both youth and adult readers.

Readers note: I enjoyed So B. It as an audiobook at 1.5 speed and fully believe the narrator (Cherry Jones) helped make this book as enjoyable as possible. Each character had their own identity and you could feel the story through her words.

4 and a half stars
Easy to read, different and I am looking forward to discussing this one with my book group. This is one of those books that is written with older children/younger young adults in mind, but I think it appeals just as much, if not more, to many adults.
