Sacrificed & Reclaimed is a bonus novella and serves as the eighth book in Bree Wolf's Love's Second Chance series. It focuses on Megan, who we met in the seventh book in the series, and her husband, Edward. After being wounded on the battlefield and left behind, he was pronounced dead. Megan has been struggling to carry on through her grief and raise their two children, Matthew and Erin.

Edward was brought to a convent to heal and, although his leg will never work the same again, he is healed. He has been filled with guilt all this time over leaving a happy and fulflling life with his wife and children to go chasing after uncertain glory in battle. He has been willing himself to take his own life, convinced that he doesn't deserve to live after throwing his happy life away. One thought stops him though, are Megan and the children safe? He must know and so he manages to travel back from the continent and all the way to the little cottage they lived in as a family. But he doesn't find things the way he had always imagined when he pictured their life without him.

What follows is a brief but endearing look that brings two people deeply in love back together and the emotional obstacles they have to work past to do it. Time changes people and so does time, so they have to be willing to share their pain and their doubts if they have any hope of being together as a family again.

Sacrificed & Reclaimed is a very sweet and endearing story. I was happy to see that things would work out for Megan, that although she is proud and independent she wouldn't have to be alone.

This book could serve as a stand alone. But I would recommend that, even if you don't read the entirety of the Love's Second Chance series, you at leat read the seventh in the series first so that you can meet Megan and get a better idea of what her life has been like since Edward was reported dead.

This is a regency romance and a clean romance. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Bree Wolf or is looking for a quick read and may like to stumble upon a new series at the same time.

Thanks for this.

Meagan is an incredibly brave woman. She managed to forgive her husband, or really, she succeeded in getting him to stay with her, with them, she got him to not be a coward and selfish - again, quite an achievement.

Wasn't soo fond of the hero. He was depressed, yes, he felt forlorn and he knew he had been selfish and yet, he returned only to show us how selfish and stubborn he really is.

This is only a novella. Loved to see the characters from Derek and Maddie's book again.

I would like to thank the author for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Edward was left for dead in the battlefield and never believed he would be good enough to go back to his wife and children. Meagan is starting to come to terms with the death of her husband, what will she do when he suddenly turns up?

A cute surprise novella, I loved that it told the harder story of what happens to men who survive war.
