OH MY GOSH! Why did I not start reading this from the beginning??? This is fantastic and wonderful and everything I like about comics (serious ones anyway). Amazing. I will be purchasing these.
I received this egalley from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This volume was all over the place. One aspect of The wicked + the divine that I love is the art and this volume has a different artist every issue, all with very different styles.
The only redeeming feature was the backstory of the Morrigan and Baphomet. I'd recommend skipping this volume, especially if you are interested in Laura's story, this volume doesn't touch on that at all.

1.5 stars. I think this is where I leave this series, and I am bitterly disappointed.

A filler bind up whereupon a god we are briefly introduced too gets murdered and we discover who has been helping Ananke without explaining why she's gone on this bloody rampage. Exciting cliffhanger, potentially. I really liked the collaboration of different artists.

After the wicked (heh) cliffhanger to the last trade, it was frustrating to have to sit through a whole collection of mostly backstory. And I missed Jamie McKelvie's art.

After two books of seeing this weird new world through fangirl Laura's eyes, we get to see some of the unseen (fucking Tara) and enigmatic (Sakhmet) gods from their own perspective. Bold move, doing an anthology arc before we've had any kind of payoff for the big character deaths so far, but here it really works to expand the world around the gods.

This was by far the best collection of this series. It is less action driven than the previous two volumes, but gives you six uniquely illustrated issues, each focusing on the backstory of a member of the pantheon. Some narratives (Tara's in particular) are moving examinations of modern interpersonal relationships that give the reader an opportunity for insight and understanding beyond what could be obtained through written word or image alone. The art ranges from cartoony to painterly, some of it is especially stunning. One issue consists entirely of panels from previous issues that have seamlessly been re-mixed into a fresh narrative, which is a challenging and experimental visual storytelling device that I have not previously seen utilized so successfully.
