Simple and beautiful. This was the first German book I read with very minimal use of the dictionary and actually really enjoyed it. Personal, touching and very nostalgic to any Bedouin out there.

The story is impressive and enjoyable to say the least, but I found the writing rather disappointing. I think there could be much more to the book with the author sharing some of her deeper thoughts, ideas and feelings. It is nonetheless a highly valuable and readable account of Bedouin culture.

A fun, easy read. Nice insights into the Bedouin lifestyle but the story jumped around and felt disjointed. Although she says more than once in the book that she doesn't feel like she has done anything exceptional in living with the Bedouin, the tone of the book sometimes hints otherwise. A touch of arrogance? I couldn't put my finger on it but it creeped through the vivid beautiful stories at times.

A beautiful story about a Kiwi marrying a Beduin and the adventures of living with him and their kids in Petra!
There is a summary about it in my blog - https://www.tamarayousefmousa.com/

Memoir, told atmospherically and well by the author.  Often episodic, with vignettes in themes.  For Romance Book Club.  Recommended!
