I have tried twice to read this book, mainly because I remember my father telling me tales of Johnny Ramensky and also because they both came from the same Lanarkshire village. However, the amount of padding the author puts in makes the book impossible to enjoy. It reads at times like a Boys Own Annual with "jolly exciting tales", but ultimately fails to win this reader over. My dad's tales were much better.
