Very romance novel-ish. Which is not necessarily bad, just not what I was expecting. I wanted to find out what happened with the Chosen One, so I continued through to the end... And then whammo! Dropped into another story. About vampires. Which, who saw that coming? Not me. That little "twist" at the end does NOT make me want to keep reading the series.

Final verdict: It wasn't romance novel enough and not paranormal fiction enough to satisfy either of those genre cravings for me. Three stars for being just okay.

Interesting premise, but fell flat. Every trope in romance ever. Insta-love, mom's the queen baddie, main heroine takes utterly stupid risks after swearing she won't (again), asshole family members just waiting for their own novels...

Wow. Are they just letting anyone publish books now? I got this for free on Amazon and I think I paid too much. I made it through maybe 30% of the book and literally nothing happened. Except for inexcusable grammatical and spelling errors, that is. The author apparently has a 3rd grade understanding of punctuation as well. The premise of the book seemed really interesting, but that's about the only good thing I can say here.

Got this book at Stuff your Kindle day, just a cringe but fun little read, nothing special. Hated how fragile the masculinity of all the male characters was tho, poor guys couldn’t even wear gloves because they were “for chicks only.” Oh en ofc was the love interest’s only coping mechanism violence, so he had to kick a tree every time he didn’t get his way

having read the series "the vampire hunters daughter" , I liked the style of writing of Ms Malone Wright, so when I saw the copy was free on Amazon I thought I'd try it and give it a go!

in all honesty- I actually preferred this over the VHD series! It felt a little more adult, with stronger language, sexual scenes and just generally more beefed up.

I'm not sure how it's going to go as a series, but this first book did keep me happily turning the pages.

So the title gives most of it a way.

reapers. in our case it's Jack. a reaper who is a bit of a playboy, would rather drink and screw around and get his intake of soul by kissing a girl mid orgasm rather than taking a soul to prevent it from crossing over.
but he's been sent to a sleepy town to kill a Keeper that has been prophesied to end the reaper line.
only problem is....there's a whole family of the Estmonds and just one of him.....
and when he DOES find out which he has to kill.....something bizarre and completely unheard of happens.......he can't kill her.......literally.

Lucy is a keeper. she protects any souls around from reapers, thus saving them from not being able to pass over. her dad has just passed away, and she has inherited the graveyard that he used to be the keeper of.
but...even knowing all about having to deal with everything before you die, doesn't stop him from holding one secret...thereby coming back as a sort-of-ghost to Lucy. to tell her of her destiny.

great.

in her sisters bakery the unknowing reaper stumbles in and immediately she's on the attack as trained. but something strange happens........

normally when a keeper and a reaper touch they burn. literally. whichever part of them touch burns quickly and painfully. but neither Lucy or Jack are. shocked they both try to brush it off....

Jack resolves that he can't kill her......So the empress sends someone who can......he has to protect her.......

then plans change.....for some reason the empress wants her alive........

but where was she taken.......why does Jack know? what's so important about him in all this? And why oh why can he not stop thinking about the forbidden keeper!!!

a good solid read. I enjoyed it!! If the next book is as good, I'll 'be happy!!!!
Thank you again Ms Malone Wright!!!

There were a lot of discrepancies regarding details. The plot was really interesting but felt extremely rushed.

This was basically a horny teenage fanfic of Romeo and Juliet. Very cringe at times.

He was a Reaper a soul sucker from the highest order sent to kill the Chosen One. She was a Keeper inherited a graveyard and souls to protect.

So I was excited for this book I love paranormal books and I liked how it had the whole paranormal Romeo and Juliet thing going on for it. Plus the cover was beautiful.

So Jack was sent to kill Lucy who recently lost her father and inherited the family graveyard. While Reapers have been down there before to try and suck up the souls of the dead they were usually easily ran off because of how many Keepers where in the Estmond family. When Jack got orders to kill The Chosen One who happens to be Lucy he couldn’t do it. He even went so far as to saving her from another Reaper trying to get the job done. Now other Reapers are coming to get her. Its a whole different game and it is one Jack tries to stay away from but when it comes down to it will he choose his strange strong attraction for Lucy or the family legacy?

Lots of action, romance, humor and sarcasm.

I liked this book and didn’t put it down till I finished it. I’ll be picking up the next book in this series.
