I'll just quote something Darby said " I’d rather be a chicken than open myself up to getting hurt again", and that pretty much sums up everything I might have wanted to say in my review :)

Love her writing style!

This was my first Cindi Madsen novel. I love her case studies--absolutely hilarious. I never would have thought about comparing failed relationships with fairy tales. But it works!! I was disappointed when the sex scene hit at 94%. I was hoping that this book would be clean. Frankly I think the storyline would have been better without it. While I am glad that I read the book, I am not sure if I will reread it.

Maybe closer to 3.5 stars, but also I read this book like 2 months ago and had completely forgotten what the story was about (I had actually been thinking it was a contemporary YA and then went back to skim through and realized it wasn't YA at all), so it probably deserves a half star down for how completely unmemorable it was. There isn't really much I can specifically point to that lessened my opinion of this book, but it just felt kind of generic? I've had mixed experience with Cindi Madsen's work before; I really liked Cipher, thought All the Broken Pieces was decent, and thought Falling for Her Fiance was pretty mediocre. This one was also mediocre, and I guess that means her YA works significantly better for me than her adult stories, since the books of hers I've been more into were YA. I think my main issue with this is that I just didn't really care about whether Jake and Darby would get together or not, and I also wasn't a huge fan of how she turned him down but he kept pushing and pushing for her to go out with him since I hate when guys don't listen to what girls say and don't respect their wishes. I'd still be interested in reading more of Cindi Madsen's stuff in the future, but I'll probably try to stick primarily to her YA.

I enjoy reading this book. I constantly counting the fairytales that have princes and princesses.

And for the record, a knight is better than a princes.

JAKE KNIGHT ❤

Cinderella Screwed Me over is the hilarious tale of a woman who no longer believes in true love. Darby has gone so far as to write case studies for the various princes and why they aren't as good as they seem. The case files were amazing, not only did it let Darby's personality shine, but it was a great way to shine a light into her past without the traditional flashback/reminisce scene. After awhile you begin to understand why Darby is so set against ever falling in love again.

On the anniversary of her one year off men, she meets Jake and instantly assumes the worst about him. But Jake is something special, he is the one that doesn't want to give up. He sees something special and unique in Darby and won't accept no for an answer. He is willing to give Darby all the time she needs to come to her senses and realize love is real.

With numerous ups and downs in their non-relationship the book was impossible to put down. It's humorous scenes and incredible dialog made the characters jump right off the page. I absolutely loved everything about it.

How can you not like this book? I love, love, love this book!!! Darby, hands down has to be one of my favorite female characters! I absolutely love her! I grew up watching Disney, especially the Disney Princesses, but for the past few years, I have felt the same way Darby has! Within the first chapter, the book sucks you in. Darby, throughout her life has had some problems with men, she has had her heart broken more than once. Poor girl, now puts a shell up, and keeps everyone at arms distant, especially men. But when Darby meets Jake, she instantly catches herself falling for him. Jake, knows and understands why Darby is like this, but he keeps trying to get her to go out with him, and open her heart to love. You learn why Darby is the way she is, that is when you truly connect with her, if you ever had a broken heart. Cindi doesn’t waste any time, making you swoon over Jake! Not complaining, because when you first meet Jake, you can’t help but love him! He is funny, caring and is not afraid of Darby’s no-dating rules.
One thing I learned from this book, and will take with me forever is that, no matter how you feel about love, never shut love out forever, you should open your heart when it feels right to you.

Surprisingly good!

I enjoyed this book more than I expected. It was surprisingly clean. With funny, relatable inner dialogue. Very refreshing. Very well written and a cute romance story.

The book contained no explicit sex scenes, but still had some sexiness to it.

Very cool! CINDERELLA SCREWED ME OVER is a Jules Romance Pick for Barnes and Noble! http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s?view=grid&store=book&sort=SA&PRO=1102

Witty, fun, and full of hilarious case studies on ex-boyfriends. And it has the BEST love interest.

Darby Quinn grew up loving fairytales but now she’s had it. Her “princes” have all been frogs (or worse) and she’s got the case notes to prove it. Darby is determined to protect her heart and she’ll never again pursue the dream of happily ever after. Then she meets Jake, one of her neighbors and the sexy owner of her favorite restaurant. Jake makes Darby want to throw out her rulebook and believe in love again, but every time her resolve begins to crumble, the past comes back to haunt her. Darby’s determined to push Jake away, but he doesn’t seem to want to give up on her. Could he be the Prince Charming she never thought existed?

Cinderella Screwed Me Over is a sparkling story about finding love when you least expect it. Darby is every bit as funny and cynical as the book’s title suggests. She’s been burned by love numerous times in her quest to find that fairytale perfect happily ever after. It’s no wonder she’s built up walls around her heart. When Jake – pretty much the perfect guy – practically falls into her lap, Darby does her best to keep her distance. Her attempts to not fall for Jake inevitably fail, and how could they not when he’s everything that’s kind, patient, and handsome? Really, Jake’s a modern day Prince Charming. He’s the perfect match for our sarcastic Cinderella and once she gives dating him a try Cinderella Screwed Me Over becomes utterly engrossing.

Though it contains a wonderful romance, Cinderella Screwed Me Over is really about Darby’s personal journey. Even though she’s down on love, Darby has a rather sprightly personality overall. I adored her and connected with her; Cindi Madsen does a great job of making her a relatable heroine.

Cinderella Screwed Me Over takes a bit of time to gain momentum, but once you get into it, you won’t want to put it down. Ms. Madsen delivers a funny, charming modern-day fairytale that is sure to leave you with a smile on your face.
