You couldn't ask for a more fairytale to life Cinderella story than this. This book was just outstanding. Once I started reading it I was sucked into the story of Ella Fitzgerald and her prince Shawn Finch and the evil B Mother and her evil step sisters. This story just flowed smoothly and the characters you couldn't help falling in love with them and hoping they would get their HEA. Such a wonderful story of a fairytale brought to life. Maybe that's why little girl's believe in fairytales, because of stories like this.

This is most definitely a must read.

Let me just start by saying that fairy tales retold or reimagined are definitely a favorite of mine, so I knew going in that I was going to love this book. I just didn't know HOW MUCH I was going to love this book!! Jillian knocked this out of the park, went back and got the ball, and then knocked it out again!!!!!! It was amazing! Shawn and Ella were on fire together from the very beginning. I absolutely loved that being a part of the popular crowd and having no shortage of girls around doesn't go to Shawn's head. He wasn't the arrogant douchebag that you'd expect him to be once Ella makes her appearance. He makes a fool of himself trying to find his Cinderella and goes above and beyond for her once he does. It made my heart melt for him!! Ella is fierce too! In true Cinderella fashion, she has this super crappy home life, but she comes to life around Shawn. She becomes one of the sassy, strong women that are frequently found in Jillian's books and gives him a run for his money!

My favorite part about this book and all of Jillian's books is how they are interconnected. Just the mention of a character you're already familiar with makes you realize that they all exist within the same world and makes you feel like you're part of something special. If this is your first book by Jillian I highly suggest you read the others so you can get a feel for what I'm talking about.

Overall, this book is amazing. You get all the fairy tale feels with a little spiciness mixed in...just how I like it!

Chasing Ella is a sweet modern day fairy tale, complete with the wicked step-mother and spoiled, troublesome step-sisters. The story is well-written and entertaining, especially if you like fairy tales and I certainly do. The only drawback for me was in the steamy times. They felt a bit perfunctory to me and seemed more like I was being told rather than shown. This pair has such good chemistry, and I felt that in all of their interactions except for the intimate scenes. That aside, it is a fun read and I did enjoy the story.

Oh, I liked this book so much!
Finally, I can rate a book with 5 stars after a while!
So... the first thing I noticed. It seems like the author liked The Great Gatsby way too much because the book was mentioned twice in the story and the main female character was named Ella Fitzgerald. What a coincidence, right?
What I can say is that this book was a dirty version of Cinderella. And I didn’t mind at all! All those hot words were a nice touch to the original story. And not only the words, but the action too. I missed reading about being a student in a university and especially about a rich girl! Usually, the male is rich. But this time it was all different.
I really have no idea why this book has such a low rating scale. Because it deserves so much more... I really felt like Ella and Shawn had a beautiful story. Even tho is was inspired from Cinderella. But still... it was a 5 stars read for me.

My first book by Jillian and i have to say I'm impressed!
This book was a twist to the classic Cinderella.

Shawn and Ella have a real sweet connection and i loved reading about them, because of how it was with the Cinderella it was easy to follow and easy to hate certain characters like the evil stepmother and daughters.

I expected there to be more angst but it was a refreshing change to not have my heart in tatters but it flowed lovely.

Can't wait to read more!

Ella Fitzgerald lives with her evil step-mother, Clarissa, and step-sisters, Anastasia and Natasha. Since her father died she has no freedom and is forced to live under her step-mothers control until she is able to graduate from Strickland University. She has had a crush on football star Shawn Finch for years but knows he is out of her reach.

Shawn Finch plays football for Strickland University but the star player is in trouble unless he gets his grades up. Unlike most of the students that attend the University Shawn does not come from money and knows that football is the only way he will be able to make something for himself.

When Ella sneaks out to a masked ball with help from her next door neighbor, Mrs. Katherine Feighry, she catches the attention of Shawn. But Ella leaves before Shawn discovers who she is. Soon Ella finds herself tutoring Shawn but will he discover who she really is?

Can Ella find a way to escape from her evil step-mother and be able to be with Shawn?

I really enjoyed this twist on Cinderella!

I felt super bad for Ella and understood why she had to wait until she graduated to leave but it was very difficult to see what she was going through. Her step-mother definitely hated her and I do think that she was probably only with Ella's dad for the money. Ella was smart and I knew once she got out she'd be okay.

Shawn was great in that he was not the type of "Prince Charming" that you initially expected as he didn't come from money and really needed to get his grades up to make something of himself. I loved the way he protected Ella, even before he figured everything out. He treated Ella well and wanted to be able to take care of her.

I loved Mrs. F - the next door neighbor and loved how everything came about with her!! She was awesome!

The ending was awesome and even though I knew how it would all turn out I really enjoyed the story!

A modern retelling of a classic! Chasing Ella has everything you would want in a modem day fairy tale! From an evil step mother, mean girls, a beautiful mistreated girl, a Prince Charming and a happily ever after! This story is sure to sweep you off your feet!

Super cheesy. I didn't like the fact that Ella was in college. She was too damn old to get grounded. If she hated her life that much and was so fricking smart, then she could have gotten a scholarship and stayed on campus and/or taken out loans so she didn't have to live with them, OR gotten a job! Considering she did all these chores around the house, it would have made perfect sense for her to move out, have a scholarship, and have a job. Of course doing all of this would mean then she would have never found the will from her father, which is why I feel like the book should have taken place with Ella in high school because it would have made more sense for her to stay with her stepmother since she would have been under 18 and need a legal guardian. I guess the author didn't want the story to be too similar to the movie "A Cinderella Story", but at this point it wouldn't matter. I knew from the first chapter that Ella was going to find a will because it was exactly like the movie.
