Really enjoyable juvenile read. This is thematically appropriate for elementary school readers.

How often does a kid's book manage to totally emotionally gut you and leave you feeling better about humans in general? This book was just wonderful.

The Vanderbeekers and the neighbors who are a part of their family care for each other and are there for each other, and I love that. Reading this book made me feel good about the world, and sometimes I need that.

This family stole my heart! A great story for readers of all ages. The Vanderbeekers covers some heavy topics with lightness and grace. I am excited to see where this family goes in the next books. Such a fun, happy read that we could all use more of in our reading lives.

Rereading this book was exactly what I needed, it was so comforting! It's about loving your community and family, and it simply warmed my heart! It's also not that often that we see a biracial Afro-Asian family, and this made me so happy! (4.07)

Heartwarming, gently funny, just the right side of twee: like if Frank Capra wrote a modern middle grade novel.

Love the middle grade and kid books because they're always so light and fun and adventurous.
