This is a selection of short stories which I have sporadically reading through half in an e-book and half in audio format.

Some of these stories were very compelling or entertaining and it was interesting to see how different authors approached the same subject manner, some of them were quite long while one was only one sentence long!

I was debating whether to give this two or three stars due to the varying quality of the short stories.

Machine of Death is a collection of short stories on the same theme of knowing the method of your death, without the specifics. However, just like the Greek heroes, the protagonists are powerless against fate. So, in a way, the book is a contemporary view of the ageless classics.

This was a reread for me. I bought the sequel a while back and then never got around to reading it so I figured I would give this one another go to refamiliarize myself before starting the second book.
I loved the premise for this collection and I deeply enjoyed the amazing variety in ways the authors all interpreted the prompt.

I think my favorite stories were those that leaned more heavily into probabilities and quantum theory but I had a fun time with all the stories, even the shortest in the bunch, HIV Infection From Machine of Death Needle.

Looking forward to reading This Is How You Die!

It was a really interesting concept. A lot of the stories were great. A few weren't. I'd probably re-read, but I'd love to see more come from this concept.

Wonderfully morbid. For dealing with such a dark topic, the stories (although sometimes depressing) are often hopeful and endearing. The considerations on a few of them, dealing with strange things such as the onset of war and the possibility of time travel, were quite insightful. All in a all, a really fun read.

A fascinating concept, resulting in some truly fantastic thought provoking short stories. However that being said, I did find a good portion of the stories to be fairly mediocre and repetitive in nature.
