3 Stars. This was good. This was bad. This was both and neither and all and other… A bit of an oddity but still decent… Takes place centuries before The Name of the Wind. Told from the perspective of a tree.

This was weird but good weird (?). I'm not sure I understood it completely but it was beautifully written. Probably shouldn't have read it before reading The Kingkiller Chronicle series but I think it doesn't spoil anything. It was a good (extremely) short read.

I... uh... Yeah.

Perhaps I am missing something profound, or perhaps this is just bad. But it just felt a bit lazy if I'm honest.

The cover is nice, though.

Didn't like the style and abstract idea of it

I'm a total sucker for stories told in folkloric, ritualistic kinds of ways...this reads like a chant, a mantra, and while it is extremely repetitive, it feels monumental for the setting. Objectively it's the worst thing Rothfuss has written, but it's still good.
