A solid continuation of the run. I know he’s a legend, but Bagley’s art is a bit of a step down from Stegman’s. Frank Martin helps add continuity to the series, and makes Bagley’s art about the best I have seen it.

Anything Spidey-adjacent with Mark Bagley on art is automatically a good thing. The story itself is okay, it’s a necessary transition from Absolute Carnage to the Knull storyline, which looks to be the culmination of Cates’s run. All the pieces look to be on the board, and things are moving into place, so let the fun begin

Better than the last book because it’s an actual story, but it still doesn’t compare to the first two volumes.

4.5 starts.
Serving as the epilogue to the Absolute Carnage story, this book puts Eddie Brock trapped on an island...with symbiotes loose. This is a love story to the older Venom stories, and the fantastic art by Bagley definitely proves this.

The fallout from Maximum Carnage? Absolute Carnage? I get my adjectives mixed up. Of course the baddies aren’t really gone, and I guess the big Big bad is still coming. To that extent this is a time biding arc. Nothing wrong with that, but you’d hope they’d bide their time more interestingly. Everything with Eddie’s son is more interesting that with Eddie. I get it, he’s dark trying to be redeemed, but he’s been trying this whole dang arc. And in the end, nothing is accomplished. We’re basically in the same place we started the arc in, without even the illusion of change. I guess it was entertaining throughout.

Some enjoyable moments but this ultimately felt like a bridge than its own story.

This totally exceeded my expectations. I thought this series is going to go downhill, but this was a really cool story. The whole island thing may have been a bit under-explored, though.
