The man was a pessimist but justifiably so. When you’ve grown up seeing what the folks then did, you’ll be hard pressed for beauty in daily life. I found his words oddly comforting. Like someone has taken the burden of constant strife away from me. I have to instead find meaning and joy in the mundane things of life and be content.
