This would make a good movie or mini series. It is a thrilling mystery set in London. For some reason, however, it feels a little too long. Perhaps because all the women are uninteresting crones or sex objects.

Interesting Regency thriller: a former rifleman, now a Bow Street Runner, criscrosses the seamier parts of London in pursuit of French and American agents who are attempting to attack the British Navy at port using a prototype submarine. Heavy on plot, light on characterization, suspenseful underwater ending.

A good beginning

I don't know much about British history, or about London in the early 19th century, but this was a fairly entertaining book. Tons of characters introduced, hard keep them all straight.
