Note for Goodreads correction needed: James Tynion is credited as the "series developer." Sam Johns (they/them) is the writer.

This was a really good story, but told not-so-well. The second half, especially, struggles, both in art and script to clearly convey what's happening. And I don't mean they shouldn't have any mysterious elements, because those absolutely belong here. But the storytelling itself seems rather ... novice, for lack of a better word. I still love this whole world they're building though, and want to see more of these characters' stories.

This one felt different from Volume 1 and from the Something is Killing the Children series. It was more philosophical or something, and therefore a little harder to follow, but still interesting.
