This series gets back on track with this entry. While not up there with the best in series it was much better than the previous book. I really enjoyed seeing Inspector Banks go on a vacation and clear his head a bit before jumping right back into the fire.

This is a thriller, not a mystery. As the reader you know what is happening at all times. Robinson seems to be moving away from the 'solve a crime' idea. Which is fine, because he's writing 'thrillers' so well.

I have been casually looking for a new crime-fiction series. I just finished all of Lee Child's books and will have one year between action-packed reads. I was happy to find Peter Robinson after reviewing authors on goodreads. Robinson has the british feel with good character development. The book's action progressed at a fair rate. It was not a page-turner. The main characters develop over the series which I like to get to know the characters more in depth! I will be going back to the first book since I like reading series in order.

I enjoyed this banks book. It's left me wondering what'll happen with banks and Annie next. Hopefully something not quite as scary!

A superb suspense tale, especially as an audiobook as read by Simon Prebble. I need to go back to the beginning of this series as I've read or listened to only two and that is a shame-on-me.
There is a lot going on, but not so much that it's difficult to keep up. The story mostly centers on Inspector Alan Banks' daughter who is rebelling by going out with a 'bad boy, but Jaff is exceptionally bad and she pays for the dabbling.
Superb and highly recommended!

This was enjoyable, up to a point, but also disappointing. The first half of the book barely featured Banks. He is on holidays in America. But back in Eastvale life carries on without him. The big case is the discovery of a gun in a home which is reported by the mother to the police. The consequences are the death of father after being tasered by police. This puts into motion a series of events leading to Tracy Banks being held by the bad boy boyfriend of her room mate. The situation just gets worse with each passing day and to the shooting of a police officer. Banks is still on holidays.
When he returns he is thrust into the investigation of finding the shooter and his daughter. He only starts working half way through the book which only takes a couple of days.
It's bad but good. Worth reading, but not as good as other books in the series.
