Porter Engle was one of my favorite characters in Light of the Jedi, so I was really excited to read a story that focused on his past. This series was just a lot of fun and shows that the Jedi are also flawed even when they have the best intentions.

This was sad - but I loved it.
Exploring the nuance of attachment is always tricky, but once again, Charles Soule did wonders. It is a valuable lesson to be careful not to allow our own experiences to distract from the truth. Plus, getting to know the origins of the Barrash vows was wonderful.
Ultimatly, I am glad I read this book.

This was solid but I personally wasn't as invested in the plot as much as I've been with other High Republic stories. That being said, I absolutely loved getting to see a younger Porter Engle and his wonderful found family dynamic with Barash Silvain. They were fantastic throughout and my investment in each of their personal journeys never wavered.
