It was written in English almost as a transcript and it read choppy as a result. The lettering was disappointing because it used a lot of hyphens in weird spots. However, it was an excellent way to learn about another country and fight stereotypes.

I'm entirely biased but I loved this book. One of my students wrote it and it was published by Green Card Voices. Their mission is to raise up the voices of refugee and immigrant voices. This was the first volume in their children's graphic novel series called, "Our Stories Carried Us Here." You can read it in English and then flip it over and read it again in Spanish, which I love! The story follows key moments in the author's life, his early childhood in Minneapolis, his later childhood in Mexico and then his return to Minneapolis during his high school years. I'm really excited for series of books that show real life stories and reflect what students in this country look like. And I'm so happy to support this author!
