The Clocks is an interesting addition to the Hercule Poirot series. An old man had been murdered and it's up to Richard Hardcastle to figure out who killed him.

I was surprised to see someone besides Hercule take the ropes in solving the mystery, but a welcome temporary change.

I’m really enjoying reading all these Agatha Christie mysteries for the first time in many years. I’m concurrently reading a nonfiction book, The Science of Murder by Carla Valentine, about Christie’s knowledge of forensics and its appearance in her books. In that book, so many of her novels are cited as examples that it makes me want to read them all.

Obviously all Christie’s mysteries are clever or her work wouldn’t be almost literally the most popular in the world. I can never figure out the bad guy(s) so I’m always impressed at the convoluted plots and how the solution is laid out. This time, though, there’s an especially unbelievable coincidence in familial relationships that left me shaking my head. But for that I’d have rated this higher.

Nevertheless, still an enjoyable read.
