This book is everything and my number 1 favorite of this year! Reading this took me on a long slow burn journey. The characters are written very raw and it hit me in every way in my bones and heart.

It's a very heartwarming and heartbreaking story to read, if you're like me who loves deep driven stories with angst and spice, this book is for you! I can't tell you enough how much I highly recommend this series to many readers who love romance and angst. Emily made sure her books have HEA and Trust the Process was in this, through hardships that Blakely had to go through. There are trigger warnings such as ocd and eating disorders.

Jax is my #1 book boyfriend, since book 1 I've always loved him even through bits of pieces of him through the series. He was always a second choice and just someone to lean on. From the last book, he's bruised from how things went in Sugarlake and for that he had to move on in the hardest way and heal on his own. He's a charming flirt with a good sense of humor and heart of gold. It takes someone like Blakely to see so much more than what the public sees, and he just may have found someone that'll choose him always.

Blakely, oh where do I start with her, you wrote her with so much realism Emily. Her process from how she shows herself to be to who she really is something to analyze deeply. She has issues that take her a long time to realize and accept. Her journey is worth the read and it's not just mentally but physically to how she is. (Again keeping it vague for you readers!)  She's a social media influencer for herself and brand of things but it's so on point to where everything has to be perfect….too perfect; Image and reputation.

At times I cried because of what she goes through, I could relate. It's a hard hitting home run for me that she does so much to keep herself in shape but her mental health gets the best of her. Emily, you wrote her character so raw and beautiful in a way to let us all know that it's ok to not be ok and to get what is needed, help. Mental health isn't talked about enough but authors like Emily really nailed it perfectly in these characters to make them aware of it themselves. Therapy was again mentioned in this like in the last two books.

Both Jax and Blakely are polar opposites but at the same time so perfect for eachother on a personal emotional level. Both deserve the love they need and to be chosen always for first choice. The spiciness was a top notch of hotness, slow and passionate. The hot tension got me feeling all bothered, in a good way! I had to take a breather every 5-10 minutes when the atmosphere went to 180!

WOW, JUST WOW. I cannot get over this book and how breathtaking it was. I felt all the feels and man was I obsessed with this story from the very beginning. Jackson and Blakely have an epic age-gap romance that is honestly one of a kind. With Jax being a new employee of Blakely's father, their spiteful relationship begins. She is the teenager who constantly gets under his skin and he is the one man who actually sees her for her. This is a slow-burn that will have you screaming! The sexual tension in this book had me rolling. Like I don't understand how Emily can make me wanna rip a man's clothes off within the first few chapters but man oh man does she do it. Blakely struggles with OCD and an eating disorder from being a socialite who is solely used for brand promotions. The world around her doesn't care about her emotions, well-being, or wants. They only care about how the picture looks that she posted and how much money they can make off of her. With her poor relationship with her father, we see a lot of Blakely's raw struggles. Jackson goes through life-fighting to get over his heartbreak and bad feelings toward his best friends back in Sugarlake. There is a lot to Jackson's past that really shapes who he is as a person. Emily made me fall in love with this man and all of his brokenness. I loved how Emily did so much for character building with her and Jax. We really get to see who they are as individuals and why they fit perfectly together. Blakely and Jackson want to heal each other but also conquer their obstacles on their own. This will have you feel all the emotions. It is angsty, spicy, passionate, romantic, happy & so much more.

This is a MUST READ I promise you!

"Sometimes you just need to know you aren’t alone..."
*
Emily McIntire has a way with words that will leave you crying your eyes out for these characters who are so real, so flawed and so full of raw emotion that it makes it easy to see yourself in them and their struggles. She did it with Beneath the Stars, again in Beneath the Stands and, let me tell you, Beneath the Hood is no different! A complete emotional roller-coaster, just like the rest of the series. And I love it!
*
"I love your heart, I would spend the rest of my life worshiping at your feet, so long as I got to experience every beat..."
*
Beneath the Hood is all about our boy, Jackson Rhoades, someone I've wanted to know more about since his first appearance in Beneath the Stars. We see Jax trying to get away from Sugarlake, and all of his problems, only to land himself in more trouble out in California. While trying to persue his dream he finds himself drawn to Blakely Donahue. But she's completely out of reach. Not only is she 19, and 9 years younger than him, but she also happens to be the daughter of his boss. They come from two different worlds but find themselves battling similar demons. And they see eachother, they're the only ones who do...
*
"His eyes stay on me, burning me from the inside out..."
*
Jackson and Blakely are both so human, and that's testiment to Emily's writing. Together they face mental health issues that the book addresses head on. It doesn't tie up their problems in a neat bow but it highlights the struggles and the pain that goes with them. This book is a sloooow burn romance and the tension is so good! When it gets to the spice, our Jax has a mouth on him

Beneath the Hood
Sugarlake Series, Book Three
By: Emily McIntire
Narrated by: Gideon Frost, Ramona Master

What a series! Every book is original and fantastic! Emily McIntire gives us Jackson's story and boy, I was completely lost in it! Jacks leaves Sugarlake to get over his old love. California is the opportunity he is needs, rebuilding cars and having them in movies as was his father's dream. Blakely, his boss's daughter is nothing but a bratty child in his eyes. She is always doing her best to get under his skin. Blakely is working with her dad since he does not think her job as social media influencer is worthwhile. But what he doesn't see are all the problems Blakeley has. When her dad asks Jacks to keep an eye on her, things begin to change. Their chemistry builds and when they finally give in, it's explosive! He is the only person who sees her for who she is. Will these two have a chance at happiness? McIntire weaves threads of such relevant life issues into her stories, and I can't help but love all of her books. This story has incredible characters we love to hate and can't help but love. We see our friends from Sugarlake and I love the way they push Jacks. This small town keeps me coming back and involving my heart in their lives. Looking forward to the next book!

Gideon Frost and Ramona Master are fantastic together. I enjoyed Frost's interpretation of Jacks. He is warm and loving, easy to relate to and I just loved his voice! Master is a favorite. Each of her narrations is spectacular. She understands her characters and brings out their personalities. Loved this perfectly cast narration!
