Bullet Review:
Not quite as mind-breaking as Unflattening, but still, it made me really stop and think. Life really doesn't change, things that happened to your grandparents happened to your parents and will happen to you. The world moves on around you.
There is something really nostalgic about this. I'm reminded of a time recently, visiting my parents, being in their master bedroom and remembering my childhood years, how different my parents felt when I was 14 vs now that I am in my 30's. Who couldn't step into a room and be reminded of things that happened a day, a week, a lifetime ago?

This book, which was a really cool Yule gift from my friend Rob, was REALLY cool. I started it in January and was really overthinking the pages, and I revisited over the past several days and just took each page as it came and didn't overthink it and I felt like dozens of timelines were washing over me at the same time. It's hard to articulate what's so utterly compelling about it, but after finishing the last dozen or so pages today, I have a visceral feeling about the setting and who we have been and what we become. Strangest, but also one of the coolest, graphic novels I've read in a long time.

Really extraordinary. Definitely the kind of book you finish and immediately know you need to keep because you're going to want to revisit, try to catch new details you missed the first time because it's just so intricate and multilayered (literally). One could probably make an insane Charlie Day theory wall about this book.
I do wish it built to a little something more, that the ending itself felt more impactful. It felt like McGuire was reaching for that but didn't quite get there, or else I didn't quite get there. Maybe on the next read.

Such a novel graphic novel! Enjoyed it -- took my time to study illustrations, and find matching pgs with same year to "finish" that particular story but it's not about begin/end of story. It'd just random life -- he made the simple things in life fascinating and sometimes quite funny.
