This book is about a DREAMER, someone who spent all her life in the US but who's not recognized as a citizen because her parents brought her when she was a kid.

This story is important, it gives you a glimpse of the struggle people like Lucia deal with. It made me tear up at times, and my heart hurt for her.

But it's a romance book, and I didn't like the romance in it very much. But maybe I was expecting more drama than I got. Many plot points were common and lazy.

Dylan Allen is a new author to me, and this book ensures that she will be on my one click from now on. The story line is original, and is one many would not take on. Lucia Vega is an author who has a best seller out. Being sought after for the screenplay rights, she is approached by Reece Carras and agrees to have her book brought to the big screen. The attraction is immediate, but can they act on it? Allen writes this story with raw honesty and emotion of a couple that faces so many obstacles, it's hard to know if they will be able to find their happiness. The two come from different backgrounds and it seems that no answer will help resolve their problems. Lucia is written with strength and passion, and will do anything to keep her story true. Reece is unwavering in his support, and knows himself and what he wants. The story flows with controversy, heartbreak, impossible decisions and an unbreakable love like no other.

A story like this needs a team of narrators that will make you feel. Lacy Laurel and Sean Crisden do just that. From the minute the book starts, every emotion is invoked and carries through the very end. Each of their performances is genuine and passionate, just what this novel needs, a wonderful narration.

Wow. What a read this was. I have to say I am absolutely blown away by Dylan Allen’s writing and I’m kinda mad at myself for waiting this long to read her. I was rocked by the raw powerfulness of this story. It may have been fiction but its topic was on a reality that is all too real. It’s an ugly truth that some people won’t want to face but Dylan Allen brings it front and center. I honestly lost count of how many times I teared up and just cried during my read. I could relate to Lucia in that I know what it feels like to be stereotyped and discriminated against. I have felt the indescribable hurt that comes along with that kind of treatment. At the same time, we’re so un-relatable in many ways because the there are things Lucia goes through that I’ve never had to even think about and what she went through broke my heart. Speaking of Lucia, she was truly beautiful inside and out. Her heart was pure absolute gold. I adored and admired her. Her courage and strength left me awestruck. She was humanity personified.
This book made me realize so many things I take for granted. Things like getting a driver’s license, traveling, living without the worry that I could one day be ripped from the only place I have ever called home. This was the kind of story that hit different, read different, FELT different and I was unprepared for onslaught of emotions.
I loved every single minute of Lucia and Reece’s story; the parts that made me laugh, the parts that had me fanning myself, the parts that broke my heart, the parts that put my broken heart back together and left me with hope.

Thicker Than Water touches on a topic that I actually hadn’t put much thought into as I didn’t know much about it. What I loved about this story was that I was able to learn while going through this story with hot love scenes, a couple with amazing chemistry and family dynamics so different from anything I could imagine. I love Reece and Lucia! The last line in the book before the Epilogue...PERFECTION! (Don’t spoil it for yourself, just read it through and get there).

"I see you, Lucia. The scarred places. And the beautiful parts."

This is the third full-length novel I read by Dylan Allen, and I can say that I am a huge fan of hers. The author raises awareness to a very relevant and important issue in the USA. I don't live in the States so I don't know a lot of about this issue, but this book was an eye-opener. After reading hundreds of romance novels, I look for more in that genre. Books like Thicker Than Water are perfect in my opinion, it has a great romance story but it's so much more than that. It highlights what a group of people go through every day and it makes you look a bit differently at the world. We need more books like Thicker Than Water, it is sexy and entertaining but also raises awareness.

"We were made for each other. You were looking for freedom...I thought I'd already found it. I had no idea."

I really enjoyed Lucia and Reece's story. This was a very heartbreaking but also uplifting story. It was emotional at times but also very sensual. The sex scenes were hot, and I loved the build-up towards it. Dylan has done another incredible job in creating such an unique and engaging story. I didn't know what to expect and that is always a good thing. So why not rate it 5 stars? I don't know how to explain it, but it was just missing something. I think if the book was longer, it would've had an even bigger impact on me (even though my heart broke to read what people go through). When I was at 80% I was thinking to myself: Will there be a sequel..., because I didn't feel like everything could be resolved in the last 20% of the book. So I had a bit of mixed feelings about the last quarter of the book. I loved what happened, but I also wanted more and told in a slower pace.

Dylan Allen is a new to me author who has impressed me with her latest story. I read a lot of romance books and after a while they all start to blend together. With that being said this is way more than just a romance story. This is a story that EVERYONE needs to read as it pertains to some important issues in our country. I like the way the author had a perfect balance of important society issues and well developed romance. Reece and Lucia relationship was well done and I loved the fact that they got to know each other first before they took things further. I enjoyed the pacing of the story and this book was well written with believable issues. I also loved the fact that the drama wasn’t over the top and all situations were handled maturely. I will definitely be going back and checking out other books from this author.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. I loved Lucia and reading about her struggles and triumphs, I loved the attraction between her and Reece as they met and built a friendship, once their relationship started though the feelings just weren't there for me. I was turned off by the sex scenes between them that felt like they didn't fit either character prior to that part in the book and somewhere their connection was lost and the end of the book felt rushed.

Me gustó la historia y los personajes, y sobretodo el saber lo que harta gente tiene que pasar al ser inmigrante.

Sin duda Dylan escribe maravilloso y seguiré diciendo que Envy es y será mi favorito <3
