Jarrod has played a tiny but fairly pivotal role in my life: his was the first cricket blog I discovered on the interwebs, and life was forever changed. Behold: you are not alone! Or well, I wasn't anymore. I've been sports mad all my life and cricket is my natural home as a spectator. As a child, then a teen, and well into adulthood, I've loved this usually thankless sport, and I've relied on Jarrod to provide his expert perspectives in his usual funny and articulate manner. Perhaps this spoilt me because unfortunately, this book isn't as fluent as I have come to expect from him. It's an all right read, especially if you've interacted with him on Twitter, or enjoy his work, or are a fan (like me), but I really cannot rate it any higher, given how well I know he usually writes. I kept waiting for it to be filled out, and it never was. The topics he touches can be explored in much greater depth, but instead, it left me feeling that he hasn't quite understood or come to terms with everything that he is writing about. Go read his other works though (blog/ cricinfo). I am sure you'll enjoy them.
