I had my doubts about a romance heroine who’s a prostitute, but somehow Laurence pulls it off.

I don't normally read political romance, but I'm a Selena Laurence fan & decided to give it a try. So glad I started with her books. She has an engaging writing style, and I quickly found myself wrapped up in this romantic drama! There were times I was completely in love with the book, but also times I wanted to toss my kindle across the room. Definitely a story that grabbed hold & just wouldn't let me go until I finished. Can't wait to see what's in store for the reader in the next book!

An amazing read, full of intrigue, romance, and drama. Kingmaker is a novel about political consultant who has made his career his life. And an escort living a lie. When circumstances throw these two together things get a little messy...
I loved it and would recommend to all my friends.

DNF @ pg. 68

So far the book was just "okay". I could have potentially finished it and ended up with a 3 star read but 3 star reads are never really worth reading anyway.

So, since it couldn't keep me interested, it's getting a one-star.

Derek Ambrose is the nation's leading campaign consultant and believes he has the perfect candidate all lined up to be the next president when he walks in on Senator Jason Melville with an escort, London Sharpe. When the press finds out Derek explains that it is he who is involved with London and not Jason.

Yet, in a political arena some secrets are not to be kept and you never know who is after who. When Derek and London begin to have feelings for one another they each have to put their hearts and careers on the line until one secret begins the unraveling of everything they both held sacred.

This book grabbed me right from the beginning and i couldn't put it down! The characters were engaging and had so many layers to them that it was like opening a present of intrigue. I loved London and the reasons why her life went as it did. She was so detached from intimacy and I liked how Derek never gave up on her or made her feel uncomfortable. Derek was such a great guy and it was pretty sad how much he was affected by the secret.

I really liked the "Powerplay Club" and I'm really hoping that this is the beginning of a series with each of the men getting their own book. The concept is very intriguing and I liked how they all worked together to get things done and solve the problems that they faced.

This was such a great book and I can't wait for more from the author!

This is kind of like the story I imagined for Sam Seabourne and the high class call girl in The West Wing TV series.

So, when married potential presidential candidate Jason Melville is found in a hotel room with a high class Washington escort and leaked to the press, his political adviser Derek Ambrose can only see one way out of the mess, pretend the call girl is his secret girlfriend. And the fact that Derek finds her beautiful and fascinating is coincidental.

London Sharpe ran away from her mother's home when she was 17 years old. After living rough for a while she started exotic dancing and eventually became a high class escort. Now she earns $1,000 an hour and has a small, select group of clients.

While Derek desperately firefights to keep his candidate in the running someone is trying to sabotage the campaign, little does he know that London has a secret that could jeopardise everything.

This was such a great kindle freebie, politics, hot sex and intrigue. Loved it and bought all the other books in the Powerplay series as a result.

Very enjoyable, great premise

I really enjoyed this book and its different and intriguing premise. The main characters were both multi-dimensional and they pulled the reader in to root for them. The storyline moved along well and had some interesting twists. It was pretty easy to see the two big reveals coming but they played out well. Definitely an author I intend to follow.
