As my introduction into Serenity Rayne this was a way to go. I loved it! It consumed me and I couldn’t put it down. I read it all in one day/sitting, once I was able to ignore the world around me. I can’t wait to read the next one and finds out what happens next! I love Aurora so much! Her attitude and sarcastic comments are great.

It’s a no from me.

I went back and forth trying to decide to give this book 2 or 3 stars. I’m going with 3 only because there is a few s*x scenes that were amazing! But other than that, the writing style seemed very amateur. And honestly, I love M/M, the 3some between the guys had me all kinds of hot and bothered, BUT... I still like the harem to revolve around the female and this book felt more like the author trying to force readers to accept gay/bisexual views. One of the harem members had a boyfriend he left to be with her, and even though he feels love for her because they’re fated mates, he’s not ready to be intimate with her yet because he just left his boyfriend of 50 years that he did love.... but yet he initiates sex and a MATE BOND with one of the other harem members, but hasn’t initiated it/isn’t ready for that with his FATED MATE. Wait, so he’s ready for it with a complete stranger, but isn’t ready for it with the person he had an instant connection with because they’re fated? All because she’s a female? Nah, I’m good on that. Like I said, I love M/M, but I personally like the female to be their priority and this definitely wasn’t that. Also, the author is portraying a strong female lead, I like that, but she can’t even take suggestions from her men. She literally got mad MAD because one of her guys didn’t know she was looking at him . Like he should have felt her gaze or something, but he was on his phone, so she got made he was on his phone and literally said “I hope whatever it is on your phone is important enough for you to ignore me.” She didn’t call his name or anything, just looked at him, and then got mad because he didn’t know she was looking at him. What?! And there was a couple of times she got mad at one of the guys and I honestly had no idea what she was going on a rampage for, it was pretty ridiculous. Unfortunately, I will not be continuing the series.

Ok, that was pretty good.

Despite lots of decapitation and some hearts being ripped out, this was no way near as dark as the other books made it out to be. Sure, Aurora is a psychopathic teddy bear, but the teddy bear part definitely evens things out.

I love sweet bb Jayce, and I see Dom being great for her. The Fae Kings let slip what’s up with Dimitri but I’m waiting for the ball to drop on Sebastian. I read spoilers for book 2 and I’m so not ready. Although I can’t wait to read more about Alaric and Ellis!! I hope they become true mates but we’ll have to keep reading to see…

Excellent book.

One of the best I've read this year.

What do you focus on when you are here on earth?

Some focus on greed, some focus on work-life.
This book really opens your eyes on what to focus on.

Creatively, this book is amazing. In terms of writing - editorially and flow of words/sentences - it's a catastrophe.

One of those books that has had me praying whilst reading it, I'm so glad that I've read this book, it really is one of those truly rare eye-opening books. It's one of those unique books that I know will shape who I am as a person.

Get this book an editor STAT

I don't really know where to begin but I have constant somewhere so ... Here we go! First of all, you know how you read a book and there's an accent in your head? In this book, I couldn't tell if this MC had a Russian accent or if the writing was just so bad that it came across as someone who didn't have a great command of the English language. Either way, it was annoying. Secondly, what tense are we working with here? Past or present? Give me a hint. In one paragraph the other goes from present tense to past in the blink of an eye and then moves right on back to present. Lastly, first or third person? I'm that same paragraph I'm reading the point of view from the MC in present tense and she then goes into a narrator's voice in past just so she can get right back into present first person! Did that confuse you? It sure confused me! I didn't finish the book. If the author can't be bothered to proofread her own work, I'm not going be bothered to labor through it. Just save yourself sometime and skip this one.

DNF 80% I really tried since this is recommended so often, but I wanted to stop a couple of times throughout the book (as early as 10% in). The writing is really juvenile and so is the main character (despite the fact she’s supposedly over 200 years old). There are so many weird moments- like an impromptu electric guitar jam session after she takes over another pack (in a supremely violent display). There’s no real rhyme or reason behind any of the events and author randomly adds things in to explain other random things.

It’s all telling, no showing. The characters also have zero depth or development and their personalities constantly change. There are a ton of plot holes and they are apparent very early on in the story. The edition I got was supposedly just edited and updated very recently, but there are still a lot of editing and grammar issues. The tenses change between 1st and 3rd sometimes mid-paragraph. The writing style is super weird
