Gave me a lot of peace of mind in struggling with everyday anxiety and helping to ground me to the present. Not as good as some of his other writings, but the format is incredible for keeping in a bag to go, etc.

“The fact that you are here—alive and capable of breathing in and out—is ample proof that you are a miracle. One string bean contains the whole cosmos in it: sunshine, rain, the whole Earth, time, space, and consciousness. You also contain the whole cosmos.”

Whenever I read from Thich Nhat Hanh, my mind feels inexplicably free and liberating.

Very short and succinct, very calm and gentle, what a lovely little book.

There's no need to strive, no need to make yourself into a battlefield. Don't force yourself into a certain position, don't force yourself to focus on the breath. Just try to be fully present, always.

We all drift off into thoughts. The point is not to stay focused on the breath, but to realise you drifted off, then compassionately and consciously decide where to place your attention next.

That can be your body, your breath, the thought that popped up. It's all good. Make room for what is, both inside you and outside.

Plum Village has a lovely free app that goes very well with this book. I'll keep using that, and I'll definitely reread this little book.
