A great graphic novel for children and adults to understand the hardships and struggles that Asian children endure when left with family friends and others in a foreign country. This fictional story of a family of three parachute kids is told in a way to make one feel the stress of the journey and struggle they face. The one issue with this story is how the brother is made to feel guilty about his sexuality and there is no resolution beyond him being quite for possibly the rest of his life.

What an eye opening, harrowing ordeal for a group of kids to go through. I didn’t know about this phenomenon but I can see why and how it happens.
The art, the writing, the circumstances were all really well portrayed and I think tweens and young teens in particular will really like this book.
Perfect for grades 5 and up.

My 12yo read this about four times, so I had to read it to. No spoilers, but great quick read.

Excellent depiction of cultural hardships; but it felt too catastrophic. The characters’  difficulties felt formulaic and I would have preferred more nuance.
